Anybody that would sell a pair of blackout marker lights for a 1952 M38? The ones I purchased online seem to be too long and they are not fitting correctly in the front grill. Also, looking for an original light switch for the same vehicle.
M38 was built with only one pair part number BO Marker lamps up front. No early vs late lamps.
The part number used on all M38's:
WO# 649692
ORD# 7723899
HAC# 21780
ORD STK# G244-7723899 (Indicates this part was first used by the Army on a G244 or M46 Patton Tank) _________________ Wes K

Maybe I am confussing the part name. What I need is the two lamps that go on the front grill below the head lights. Also the light switch. [/img] _________________ RJ Ruiz

What Wes said was, ONE part number was used for the black out marker lamps in the grill. There are however two of them per vehicle.
You are looking for the type that has the single wire built into the lamp assembly. The later ones with the protruding Packard connector will not work on an M38. That built in connector interferes with the battery box on one side and with the radiator shroud on the other side.
If you really want to get into the minutiae of the Douglass black out marker lights...there are two versions of that one part number. One type "the first one" has the removable front piece with no keying feature. This front piece can be installed upside down! The Military soon realized the error and subsequent runs had a keying feature on the "door" as it is called, and its matching key on the body. _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
There is a pair of very similar lights on the big online auction site, title "Used Military OEM Blackout Light". The P/N is not the same as Wes lists. These would work fine unless you are doing a 1000 point restoration. they even have the correct short stud. _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
The originals on my 1950 M38 10675 are slightly larger and the keyed doors will not fit them.Everything on it was original including the 2 connector light switch wiring with the connectors cut off.It still had all the resistor type gauges and the early type distributor. The bell housing and starter had been changed but it still has the Dec 1950 dated transmission. Both diferentials are also dated 12-50 on the back side of the drivers side on each,.
