I amended your original post to try to make it comply to some degree with the Sale Board Rules at the top of this board.

Thanks Wes. Not trying to break any rules. Just trying to pass on an opportunity to save another one.

As the rule say, "If not in compliance it goes on the auction page!"

I was hoping my spending a few minutes making your reference compliant that you and others would get the point. It's not that difficult to make a craig's list ad compliant with our rules. It just takes a little extra time. For most posters they only need fool with it that once. For us Admins we get to sort them out 15 to 20 a week. I like working on my jeep and spending time with my family just as much as all of you guys do! So a little help would be a nice thing.

Just a thought.........

I discovered that the eWillys site at http://www.ewillys.com/ is very well done, and they either have a robot scrubbing every craigslist site in the U.S. for every kind of Willys ad under the sun or they have a ton of paid or un-paid volunteers doing it. Either way, a lot of good nuggets --- all in one place. Everything you ever wanted from Jeeps to parts of Jeeps. The guy running this site has his stuff in one bag!

My point: there's no need to aggravate Wes any more than he already is by trying to re-post craigslist ads here in this forum. Check eWillys yourself on a regular basis!

His time is better spent on kicking us rookies into line!

Happy Wes = happy forum! Very Happy

Don't get me started on all you folks out there who (after repeated requests by Wes over 15 years or so) would rather use some goofy forum name instead of your real name..........like the Government can't figure out who you are. Really? What planet are you living on?

Come on guys........real men use first names.

While I'm on a roll............

When he asks you to put your jeep type, model, and year into your signature block -------(or anything else for that matter) ---- JUST DO IT!

It's the lube that makes things run smoothly in this motor!

One of these days I hope to make a pilgrimage and go visit the man. He's a real gem, and we all need to pay strict attention to his requests about how he wants this site to operate.

In my book, they aren't "requests", they're "orders". You vets know what I mean.

I wonder if he keeps any Coors Light in the fridge............ Very Happy

Brings an old story to mind!

When I was a younger SSGT. (E-5) B-52 crew chief at Barksdale AFB, LA in 1970-73 we pulled a lot of Satellite Alert duty with our Nuke loaded buffs at Shepherd AFB Wichita Falls, TX. They would haul us back & forth for our 1 week tours in an ancient USAF Reserves C-124 (4 round piston engined old girls) but they had a huge cargo compartment. Well back then Coors was only available west of the Red River. So each Monday morning after breakfast we would borrow the bomb loader's weapons carrier and go to the class 6 store and pick up 50 cases of Coors. Then we would load the 50 cases on a pallet in the center of the C124's floor and carry back across the Red River to Bossier City Louisiana and split up the gold cans when we landed. We always gave the air crew a few cases for the lift!

The C124 or Ole Shakey as she was know then.

This is the alert pad at Shepherd AFB TX. You can see three of the four B-52G's we had on satellite alert there as well as the trailers we lived in during our week on duty.

This is what was in the bomb bays then:

We carried 8 of these or 4 of these and a launcher with 4 Quail decoy missiles.

This is the bomb bay.

Wes,
What a great story and photos! Only in the movies do legends like that really come alive! (Note to self: I think Wes just said his name was Smokey ---- a long time before Smokey and the Bandit). Very Happy

We have got to have a beer together!

Very nice, but you did it. The Jarhead is focused on beer, not bombs. Very Happy

Well one of these days we might. I have a Brother & sister living in Florida, A brother-in-law living in Denver NC and a sister living in southermost OH. I spent a year or so living in Columbia SC. Working as a Chief Inspector at an aircraft repair station. I had a lot of Jarheads that wouldn't let me buy a beer in Bangkok when they found out I was a Buff crew chief right after TET 68.
