US fittings are always the best choice. The greatest percentage of overseas threaded items lack any serious accuracy.

Quote:
the discharge weight needs to be square or round stock bar that cut to lenght will be 1/8" under top of carb.

I pulled a new pair out of a carb kit from Ron F.

The ball is .157" (5/32") steel. The weight is aluminum square stock. 0.150 x 0.443.

The ball is easy to find:

Our Price: $4.95
. Item: Loose Balls
. Size: 5/32"= 0.157 inch
. Material: Chrome Steel
. Quantity: 100 Balls.

Product Code: KIT8590
https://www.vxb.com/100-5-32-inch-Diameter-Chrome-Steel-Balls-G25-p/Kit8590.htm?gclid=Cj0KCQiA8_PfBRC3ARIsAOzJ2uqHyGbw-TTwGSVpVm7obLoxlEEEFOhP5vGHaXVktjRqS68szLadeLkaAl02EALw_wcB

The weight stock was tougher. I could only find aluminum square bar stock at 0.25" stock. The round bar aluminum stock was usually smallest diameter of 0.25 but I often found 0.1875 stock.

Just another silly idea from me so feel free to tell me why it will not work but, could you not come at the aluminium round stock from the other direction and find a sufficiently heavy aluminium wire?

Possibly, 6 gauge is 0.167. Rather soft and flexible though which may make sizing difficult.

I was actually thinking more of the fencing type wires some of those are quite stiff. Again you may have a problem getting a straight piece though.

yes indeed.

Question: The disharge weight in Ron's kit is aluminum. How critical is it to be aluminum?

Any non-ferrous metal would work. The idea behind the aluminum is not so much it's resistance to corrosion but it's weight. A properly sized aluminum weight will weigh what Carter wanted it to weigh!

And of coarse the engine will not crank or hit!!! Rebuilt carb and cleaned to Max! I am so frustrated as why it will not try to fire off. Sounding now as if no gas. Is there something beside carburetor I need to be looking at ?distributor? Thanks for any suggestions. I am going to climb in a deer stand and regroup. Our duty is on

I see you are not using the manual while you work! Nor my very technical photo album with 100's of detailed photos in a few dozen sub albums showing each system.
My album is the 2nd album on the first page: http://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?set_albumName=Wes-Knettle&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

After you open the book and hook up the spring and it's bracket then move to Sect IV Troubleshooting Para 77 How to troubleshoot then Para 78b Engine Turns But Will Not Start. Then slowly and calmly follow the steps IN ORDER and take notes on results of each step.

You reminded me of the 4 week deer gun season's I used to enjoy in Louisiana in the 70's & 80's. Up here in Wisconsin gun season is only two weeks and ended last Sunday night!

Very Happy Yes. In a hurry! I have this little iPhone and no WiFi so I have to wait till I get home to download pics.
After 4 hours in stand at 71 degrees and it’s the Rutt. I got to thinking to it’s no way it’s carb. I cleaned that rascal to perfection . The engine just turns over and over and never hits.
So I pulled a plug and held to the block and turn ignition ...... no spark!!!!
