Those of you that are in the process of restoration, I have a suggestion. If you want to give your Jeep some character, don't try to make it perfect on the body work. When mine was finished we left some dings and other imperfections that where naturally there and just prepped it like that. It give's it a real feel for it's age. Also, I don't know what kind of paint they used back then for the markings but when my hood was sand-blasted, the contract number was imbedded in the steel. I belive the hood star on some of the early models had it's single point to the rear (as with the GPW's) and later reversed. Comments Welcomed

That is common when sand blasting. The extra layer of paint for the registration numbers delays that area's steel from getting blasted just a tad so the steel area around the numbers has been pelted longer by the sand or beads.

Willys made no attempts to hide the rough edges and small dings during production so it would be correct to allow them to remain.
