I'm about to start working on my M38 radiator. It's in good shape and really dirty. Anyone have tips on clean-up and painting?

Thanks,

Dave

If really dirty means the core openings are plugged up then do yourself a favor and take it to a radiator shop and get it professionally cleaned and repainted.

Just dirty on the outside I suspect. A very good functioning radiator when the jeep was last running. Just thought someone might have some tips on clean-up. Maybe it'll just take hours of hard work like everything else.

You cannot beat a thorough professional cleaning which includes hot tanking and flushing the years of sediment out of the core. Place a mirror in the top and bottom tanks and with a strong light look at the interiors. A bore scope is even better. If you see plugging in the core tubes top or bottom or heavy scaly deposits on the tanks take it to a real metal radiator shop.

While on this topic "Bore Scope" they are not as expensive as they use to be and you can get a nice long USB corded probe that connects directly to you lap top so you can record photos of the interiors for under $60.
