Hello to all the forum,

I am very excited to share with you the fact that I have gathered almost all of the parts needed to install a 200R Ramsey to my 1963 M38A1.
Some of the parts are used, some NOS and some Newly fabricated. It was a long and expencive ride but would be very happy to share the details and knowledge gained!

I'm hoping you mean a Ramsey Model 50 R, if not, you may have invested your money in the wrong winch.

Yes, the 50R would be the correct winch for a M38A1 and the 200R is the correct winch for the CJ5. Either can be adapted to the other jeep. One noticable issue is the PTO used. The 200R uses the PT-1 and the 50R uses the military 105.

This does have an impact on which exhaust is used. The CJ5 and M38A1 have different routing of the exhaust head pipe which if not followed can lead to conflict with the PTO driveshaft,

Here is the Ramsey 200R installation instructions:

You are correct that 50 / 50R is the model but harder than gold to find. I was lucky enough thought to finding all the PTO and shaft parts for the military installation. So all the layout backward the winch will be original. Regarding the frame, I had a sample and blueprints for the original Ramsey 50 frame and I reverse-engineer that with CAD to produce Laser Cut and Press Forming drawings for a new frame, slightly modified for the bigger 200R. Hope will be able to post some pics very soon.

Are you saying you have a Ramsey 105 military PTO and driveshaft but will be mating it to the wider Ramsey 200R winch drum? Do you have the winch driveshaft bearing support that bolts to the left side of the bell housing?

Yes, the full deal...

The PTO is surplus, drive shafts and joints are NOS, all ex greek army, the bearing support is an exact repro from the Netherlands.

Below are photos from work in progress. The 200R is bigger so I hade to modify slightly the frame to accomodate.
