Greetings all. I've been a member for a year or so but have been hiding in the bushes, watching, listening, reading, taking notes (and names). Thanks to all of you for the education.
I'll be back with questions and concerns later but wanted to get my jeep numbers out there;
52 M38
Engine MC 86362 (late?)
Hood number 20909973
Body tag MC 62209 4-52
Casting number 641087-L-W12A
What does this tell us Wes?
Suppose I should post pics.

Have had it a couple of years. She's in great shape. Looks correct but....
All for now.
Standing by,
Bill

Hey Bill,
Well, somebody ought to say it.....so Welcome! Good for all of us --- no club membership is required....Cool

Yes, nice crisp photos are each worth a thousand words. Please do.

After a year, you must know the terrain pretty well. I'm curious about the "taking names" ?.........former LEO? FBI? NSA? Google or Facebook? Just kidding,,,,,,,

It's been a while since I looked at the forum stats, but only a microscopic percentage of the 5500+ users of this forum actually have something to say, and by and large what they say are genuine nuggets worth knowing (at least for me, a 1st time jeep owner) so I'm glad to see you step up to the plate.

Looking forward to seeing MC 62209.

Yes, Bill, Welcome aboard. We have another "Wildbill" of sorts from your neighborhood who is a member here and being close to you can probably offer a bit of hands on help when needed. Bill Falconer goes by Bill_F here. Send him a PM. His M38 is Blue!

Yes. Eng serials After MC74419 were late style 10 bolt rear flange blocks. There was a short test run of the new style engine blocks in Dec 51 as well. The design blueprint for this new block called out casting # 804380 but the foundry screwed up and left the old 641087 casting # on the first batch. By june 52 the casting # was corrected to 804380.

Biggest difference at rear of engine:

3rd and last of the early series 641087's

4th and last of the 641087 series produced after Eng serial MC74419.Jan 52

Hood # appears correct for the month of April 1952, our data base has MC62015 (20909475) and MC62369 (20910715).
