When it comes to the in tank fuel filter is it advisable to get a new or is it ok to reuse the old original style. I have the old one right now which is in one piece but if the experts here suggest that I purchase a new one that is ok just looking for opinions.

The original element is a man made material and is not cleanable. Once it is contaminated, it is junk. Your only option is to replace.
