Anyone ever come across stamped numbers on your M38 frame? I realize Willys did not stamp 38 frames so thinking either this was with the KY National Guard / KY Air National Guard, as suspected. Link to pics below.

Now to help with an answer. It was common for military vehicle depots to stamp frames in that location with identifying marks so they could mate the primary structures of that jeep back together at the end of their repair/overhaul line. Some used serial numbers, some used hood numbers and some used work order numbers. I would guess it more likely the KY 6869 is a work order #. Guard or reserve units usually use KNG or KANG or AFRES for prefixes. _________________ Wes K
