I am looking for a couple of good photos of the rear drive shaft and dimensions for an M-38A1.

My jeep came to me in pieces and I have assembled the rear drive shaft as to what I "Think" it should be. But when I put it in the jeep, it is tight. I want to correct this and all there are are part numbers for the rear shaft in the SNL, no pictures...

Thanks in advance...

Hi Hal,
Do you have a copy of the M38 Reference Guide? There's several pages of good photos and information, including dimensions, starting on page 103 for both M38 and M38A1 driveshafts. I haven't researched this in the ORD9's, but the Reference Guide indicates driveshafts are interchangeable between the M38A1 and the M38.

Good luck!

Well. got looking things over and found I put the yokes that slide on the wrong shafts... The front yoke is 4.5" long (Approx) and the rear is 3.0" long. I had them swapped.

I changed them around, not hard to do, but a pain; and all now OK...

So just for clarification Long yoke is front, short is rear...
