Dear fellows,
I installed a fully rebuilt engine in my M38A1 one year ago. I have driven 300 miles since then, so far the engine runs very well!
I wanted to ask what to do after running-in the engine:
- after how many miles is it neccessary to do some adjustments?
- intake valves?
- exhaust valves?
- change engine oil?
... anything else?
I appreciate your advice,
regards

The very detailed list in your TM 9-8014 Sect. 2, Lubrication, and Sect. 3, Preventative Maintenance cover your question quite well. I assume you already rechecked cylinder head torque and fluid levels during the initial run-in.
Essentially, once you have completed the initial run-in you turn to the schedules in these two sections. A few areas that may need some examining are:
1 - Oil filter Depends on weather you have a Cuno or Fram type.
2 - Oil changes depends on what type oil you are using
3 - Note there are several detailed changes to these sections particularly in Changes 3 & 6. If you do not have these changes they can be found on our downloads pages.

I do have the FRAM Filter and run a 20W50 oil without additives (antique car spec). _________________ ´57 M38A1
