Hi Guys,

This is Bert from Virginia. I have located a 1951 M38 in a machine shop in Ashland. It is in many pieces but complete except for the engine which is gone. The frame looks straight and unmolested and the axles look good though the front one has a disc brake conversion. It has been in this shop, in this condition for over 15 years.

I would buy it but I plan on a move and don't need another Jeep (I have two and a half) to haul out to the midwest.

The owner wants $500 for the whole lot. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

Bert

Thanks

I'd be interested if the body is descent. Any chance of sending pictures of it to me at jholgate@bellsouth.net?

The guy used to work at the machine shopwhere my 134 engine is being rebuilt. I'm going there tomorrow. I'll take a camera. I looked at it before and saw two axles, a body (needs front floor pans), a windshield, complete frame, two seat frames, the hood has a crack, the rear of the body (driver's side) looks as if the welds have come loose. Top bows? I'm not sure. The tranny and transfer are there but buried under debris. The owner said he wants all of it to go at one shot. All I wanted was the frame.

I'll let you guys know what I find tomorrow evening.

As a follow up to my earlier post - if this Jeep turns out to have a restorable body, I'd be willing to sell off the top bows (if there), frame and any other parts needed by forum members.

Hello Bert,
I am new to the web site but would love to see this vehicle I live only 80 miles from Ashland and will be travelling that way toward the end of June so I could swing by there easily. my email is dale.shrader@us.army.mil. Thank you for the information.

Too bad I would have enjoyed seeing it.

I am currently stationed in El Paso Tx but am attending a school at Ft Rucker Al. I am hoping to find something in the desert since there will be a lot less rust than we normally find here in the more humid areas. Do you guys know off the top of your heads where would be a good place to begin looking for a nice project vehicle? I think I would like to begin with an actual WWII vintage era vehicle.

Thanks for the site looks like some great information.
