Hi guys,
I have to replace the batteries on a 1970 M38A1
In the manual the the specification says 45 ampshour but the supplier has different numbers when it comes to the amps( like 500 something )
There's nothing written on the old batteries except that they are Delco
and they are manufactured in the States.
So , which batteries are the right ones ?
Thanks

The correct battery is the military 2Hn which is 12 volts 45 amp hours.
The 500 rating you quote is the CCA (cold cranking amps). Any reputable battery dealer should be able to quote both CCA and Amp Hour ratings of the battery he sells. There are two civilian battery group sizes that can be substituted that will fit in the box and the amp hour ratings are very close to the same. Groups 24, 56, & 78 come to mind and have CCA's of 525 to 630 which just means they have a little more power available then the 2HN.
