My MC and RMC blocks have a tapped hole on the rear face - 1" from the right side and 2.5" down from the head/block line. It looks to be about 1/4".
What was secured in this hole? I havn't found any pix int he manuals yet that either show the hole or show anything attached at this point.

could it be where the gas pedal mounts too ?? Just loked at mine I am working on and thats what mount there..sShould be two holes

Opposite side from the gas pedal lever assembly.

Its near the starter push lever.

I believe this was used for clamping the vac advance tube on those civvy engines with a vac advance distributor. May also have been for use when the governor was installed.
