I bought this spotlight from ebay advertised as a spotlight for an M170. The seller claimed it was on his M170 and that he removed it prior to selling his jeep. He says it mounted to the fender or cowl an he can't remember exactly how it installed. Has anyone seen anything like this? Or how it will install?

In case the link doesn't work it is in my gallery page 5 rdsar2k

This is the M170 Reel light shown in the parts manual and TM 9-8014 and was the only odd lamp installed on the M170 by the factory.

There were many generic military stocked flood lights used over the years and it is possible one like your photo was used at some time on at least one M170. It looks rather large or bulky and may not look well on your fender. It looks more like a flood from a wrecker or maintenance van. Did the mounting base and inner handle come with it?

The it appears to operate by the handle built into the body of the lamp. No mounting hardware seems to be needed. I don't think it's a light that needs a handle into the cab as it operates by grabbing the lamp and rotating. I'm probaby nieve though

i believe David from weebee webbing had one just like that installed on his m170, i was thinking about bidding on that one but i think you have to bore a large hole in the cowl to install it i may be wrong though , it would have been a field modification as they were not installed at the factory. thanks Zane
