I just found a mil surplus generator thats powered by an M38 engine. The engine has standard M38 lift ring, autolite 24v distributor, cuno oil filter, intake manifold with primer hooked, water pump etc.
Is there anything to be aware of with the genset configuration that would prevent using the engine in an M38?
I didn't check block casting numbers or serial numbers.

watch the intakemanifold, i think in my m38 jeep there is a gen.intakemanifold. it is smaller than other M38's
It decreases the max speed, but 50 mph is still fast enough !
Solong everything works fine i do not change it. Eventally in the future when there could be engine problems it is the time to change it. Separating the manifolds is always a dangerous job.
my son's GPW has a CJ3a engine, and the intakemanifold is bigger
