Wet it down with a spray lub and hit it with a brass hammer a couple of times... |

My 1955 M170 with the same drive train has a metal cup containing the rubber supprt that is installed in another metal cup on the cross member. Extremely rusted in. I used a chisel on the lip of the metal cup containing the rubber support. Make sure you hit the cup containing the support and not hit the crossmember cup. The new rubber support has a new metal cup as an assy. Sounds like we are at the same stage in overhaul. I just painted my front axle this weekend and I am going to wrap it up next weekend. Waiting on sandblasting of the tub and frame so I'm also working on axles and drive train parts. |
