Both of these are WWII and early CJ air cleaners.

The M38 cleaner is a bit different:

The correct M38 air cleaners sell for $100 to $180. A correct WWII late MB air cleaner sells for $75 to $100. Most Generator set air cleaners have a different orientation of the air outlet (for mounting on the driver's side of the engine)and won't work on MB's or M38's. These also have a heated air jacket added to them with a warm ar inlet for the air routed from arounf the exhaust manifold.

Yep, that's it. What is the part that is clipped onto the top of the cleaner. Mine has one of those as well.

That's the heat pipe adapter that allows heat from the exhaust manifold jacket to enter the air cleaner when you allow it.
