Well folks,

I want to thank all that responded to my earlier posting on the Yahoo group. Things are looking much better… Cool

The tub has been sandblasted, along with the hood, fenders, tailgate, and grill… All of the bondo, paint and trash have been removed. I have bought 2 gals of Red Oxide Primer and 2 gals of USAF Strata Blue Very Happy from Rapco. Tonight I take the tub over to one of my co-workers house and he is going to paint the parts for me. My cost $100 plus I buy the materials. Cool

We need to bondo a few rust thru holes discovered under the paint removed by the sandblaster, but over all no major problems… with any luck I will have the tub, tailgate and grill ready to install early next week. I am taking next week off so as to run parts of the wiring harness and start outfitting the tub… Smile

My frustrations are still there, but becoming more manageable.

I hope to post pictures on the WillysMJeeps site soon…

Are you sure you want to do that? if you already have the tub off why not fix them? It's not that tough. I am going through the same process as you and have found that fixing holes is better than filling.

Have a look at m38jeepproject.com to see how I did things.

Hal,

We all go through the discouragement/burn out phase of a restoration.

It usually happens when you have everything appart and have started working on things and it seems like you don't get anywhere fast.

Don't watch those car shows on TV, they have an army of people and an unlimited budget to get things done in a week or two. They usually modify something new to fit on instead of taking the time to research and find the correct original part.

I would also fix the rust holes even if it takes a little more time. You will not regret it.

Good luck and Godspeed!

Wink
