Hey,
I opened the wrong one: it is the 8014 change 7. I fix it tonight when I get off work. _________________ Ryan Miller

Looked around but couldn't find a place to input this. The data plate from my M38A1 is"weak but readable" , looks like MD 62657, title says VIN 806279W1C 1953 M38A1. Seller says it spent most of its life at Ft Campbell. KY. When I signed up, there was a reminder to provide some data on the Jeep, but I waited until I got the old data plate. Mine has a new plate with nothing on it. Does anyone have the numbers stamped/engraved on the new plates? Thanks for all the work you guys do !!!. Frank//fra587 |

Hello Frank,
Thanks for the data. I find it interesting what was used for the VIN on the title. Years ago most cars were titled using the engine serial number. That number on your title is the M38A1 engine casting number which is found on the right side of the block down near the oil pan on about 100,000 M38A1 engines. That is an error you should try to correct. The VIN should be either MD62657 or the engine's serial number which is up on that small flat above the water pump. Right now your VIN probably matches about 1000 currently registered M38A1's.
Engine's serial number location.
This is where you'll find the patent plate behind the passenger seat. It should match the dash serial plate number. _________________ Wes K
