Great photo's. I'm guessing they were pushed out the back of those C-119's on the ramp in the first photo. I would have liked to seen that in person. Cool

Saw a Gamma Goat auger in 1981 in Grafenwehr [a 509th Abn Inf Bn mass tac] One wheel disconnected and chased some artillerymen on the DZ "waiting" for their transportation. No one was hurt but there was no sympathy from us grunts with our LPCs and 80 pound packs...

A 434th C-119 being loaded for an improved serial delivery system named "Alamo Slingshot," that was tested by the Air Force to enable Air Force cargo aircraft to re-supply ground units with almost pinpoint accuracy. With the slingshot system, the C-119 aircraft could catapult its complete cargo load from the plane in just four and a half seconds. This official U.S. Air Force photo was released August 1966.
