Completed another cross-state trip pulling the A1 on the trailer! Here’s the story:

The Explorer: 1993, my daily driver, bought it in ’96 w/ 35,000 miles on it, now has 170,000. Frequent fluid changes, tires, brakes and batteries is all it’s ever had.

The trip: Hot! 90+. Trans temp stayed good, but engine temp would not tolerate a/c, so, windows open. Drank lots of fluids but didn’t have to make many bathroom stops. Most of the liquid was sweat away before it made it to my bladder! Cream, Boston, Top Gun, etc. blasting from the cassette player. 60 mph top speed. 7 ½ hours from Ashton to Boise. Cars and trucks flying by on the freeway. I don’t care! Let ‘em go! I’ve got the headlights and grille of an old Jeep staring back at me in the rear view mirror and life is pretty d@#n good!

The setting sun filled the windshield as we rode up the freeway exit ramp that takes us home.

Good old Explorer!

A quick stop in Mountain Home for a splash of gas to get us down into Boise.
