My engine did have the same gray color.

I bought the m38 secondhand and already dissasembled, ready for sandblasting...

Very Happy more progress with photos!!!














also because off not moving my gear shift i open the transmission to see if there was the problem but hopefully the problem was in the gearshift level because it was stuck by rust and water that coming threw!!sooo with a lot of diesel and penetrating oil all is ok!!!some photo of my trans!!

Another great web site for help in a jeep restoration is www.G503.com. Some of the same moderators here work that site also.

There is a guy in Athens Greece thaqt advertises M38 parts on EBAY all the time. His EBAY identification is jeep572011. He sells lots of NOS parts. Looks like you have a very complete project jeep.

Looking at the photo of the engine block and cylinders, I was surprised you were able to salvage the block, as number two cylinder looked like it was too bad to bore out.
