I rebuilt my carter ys carb on my 1955 M38A1 . After I put it on, my jeep didnt run right so I took off the top part of the carb. In doing so I lost the small BB like bearing. Is this bearing important? Also I'm not sure that I had it in the correct place to begin with. Does it go in the hole with the tiny spring or in the hole with the small tube like piece? Please help asap before I go crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in the garage now working on it and will be up very late.

Thanks for the diagram, but I cant really see where the little bearing goes(which hole). Is it really needed since I lost it? Can I put something else there in its place?

Mine was not installed on my carb when I got it though the engine was not running. I called the venders to see if they had any. I think Debellas hooked me up. There is a weight on top of it and it goes in the carb body. Not something that should come out when you pull the top.
Part JJ and HH on page three of the YS carborator manual you can get here in the downloads section.

It is the discharge check ball in the diagram and you should be able to see the tube like weight setting right on top of it. Yes it is important. Leave it out and your carb will run overly rich because you are sucking in gas from the accelerator pump circuit. It is just a plain steel ball. You can buy them at your hardware store.
