M38 tools

In the M38 tool kit did the tire iron have a number stamped on it? And what was that number?

Also does anyone have a pic of the iron?

Thanks Smile

Steve,
Are you speaking of Canadian Forces supplied tool kits? The US M38's didn't leave Willys with a tool kit. They were issued by the owning service's supply arm from standard issue equipment items supplied by whomever their vendors were at the time of issue.

Hi Wes

I guess I just figured if the jeep came with a spare wheel then it would come with the jack and tire iron. I found a tire iron the other day that is almost identicle to the WO one for the MB and also the ford one for the GPW.
It is marked A!-W-3837-25 I was hoping it was an M38 one. I have never quieried the M38CDN tool kits, I just assumed they were all the same.

thanks Smile

Hmm I took a closer look at it and I indicated the number incorrectly. It should be 41-W-3837-25.

There is a post on the G503 referring to a manual (1951 ord 7 G-503 tools and firexes)

this number is listed as the lugnut wrench

Sorry about the omission. Item "N" in my list above is that wrench. I just dropped the part number by accident.

I don't know what tool kit supply system the Canadian forces used with the M38.

The ORD 7 makes it very clear that Willys did not ship M38's or M38A1's with tool kits. The using service installed the tool kits when the jeep was issued to a unit for use.
