Where can you pick up the correct stencil kit for the M38A1's? I would like to re-stencil my A1 correctly & for a more correct look. _________________ 1952 M38A1 & M100 & '61 M101 |

I also make decal kits and paint mask kits. Right now I do not have the M38a1 kits up on my website. I was waiting on finishing mine I bought in the fall to use as display model for pictures. My site is http://www.i2k.com/~schwarzd/ Everything is designed and ready, I just haven't finished my M38a1 yet. Anyway I have the kits priced at $50 for decal sets and $75 for paint mask sets. Each set would include; 1- 20" hood star, 4 - 6" body stars, 1 - 3" bumper star, 2 - 2" hood registration numbers and agency markings, 4 - tire presure markings, fuel fill caution, and front and rear bumper unit numbers. Fonts can be done in a variety of styles. I have been making marking kits for several years now and this past year at the MVPA convo. three of the winning M-series vehicles had markings from me on them. Anyone interested can send me a PM here or use the email listed in the contacts on my website.
Now if I could just find the time to get my 53" M38a1 finished up.
The marking that were on it when I bought it are not correct which drives me nuts. _________________ Dave

Well it's good to see that there is more than one person making them - almost half the price too! Now, I guess I have to pick one _________________ Matt

Rick's stencil's are awesome. Plus, he's got some great customer service. He hooked me up with my set, even with having to 'scrunch' a number since I numbered mine for my current unit.
Either way I'm sure you'll be good to go. |

Hi Beast. I'm ready to paint (or sticker) USMC and the hood number. What do you recommend?
Thanks. _________________ '53 M38A1 X2 |

For the M38 and M38a1, the paint mask sets are the way to go. The military didn't start to use the decal kits until the early 60's (I believe 64'). If you would like USMC markings just sent me a PM with what all you want and I'll get back to you with a price quote. _________________ Dave

To 53A1....Not to beat our great suppliers and hobbyists out of a buck, I located some template letters and numbers to make my own since the USMC A1 three inch letters and numbers were not available as a kit. I found my original numbers on my 1961 USMC ordered A1, that was grabbed up by the Navy and lettered US NAVY and numbers in three inch letters. Painted yellow by the way. The same info was on the bumperettes, in two inch letters/numbers. US NAVY on the left and the numbers on the right bumper.
I spaced the letters/numbers as original before sanding and painting the hood. I am close to being ready to using the template I made but cannot yet claim success. It seems that masking it tight to eliminate overspray may be the key. Then I have to lift the template and move it to the other side of the hood without destroying it. The template material is pretty tough though.

I found mine also and they are 3'' letters. I'm not sure how to space the letters and numbers. I would like to add my hood number soon.
