I have already rebuilt the steering knuckle assy.
I followed instructions for shims and tension adjustment.
Instructions say to to add or remove shims under the top bearing cap for proper tension. So that is the way I did it.
I was reading today in Army Motors number 114 page 48 that shims were placed on the bottom too in 1944 from experience in Europe.
Anyone know about this procedure and how the best way to do this nowadays? Or just follow the manual? _________________ Tropical Veteran

The WWII MB and the CJ2A had shims installed at the top and the bottom. The CJ3A and the M38 have more meat cast into the kin pin bearing lower face and do not use shims on the lower end. _________________ Wes K
