|
|
1) there is a vent line running from the transfer case to a Tee on the bell housing. The other side of the Tee has nothing connected to it. Can anyone tell me where the missing vent line from the bell housing is supposed to Connect?
2.) I just acquired two "correct" NOS vacuum wiper motors. The manual wiper arm does not clear the windshield gasket. Can anyone tell me what the length of the spacers that hold the wipers off the windshield frame should be?
I can guess but I'd like to get it as close to original as possible.
Thanks in advance (again!)

There is a manual for the fording system in the downloads section of the forum that has a nice diagram for the vent/vacuum lines in it. It also has a thorough description of the purpose for each line.
looks like the line from the bell housing goes to the center section of the fuel/vacuum pump. |

Thanks. The info you referred to is for the M38 while I have an M38A1. That said, they've got to be pretty similar. Anyway, it gives me a good place to start.

Page 70 of the M38A1 ORD 9 parts list. There's a pretty good diagram of the vent system there which may help.

Thanks for the responses. Using your info and some I found elsewhere I've learned that the line in question is used to pressurize the bell housing and transmission/transfer case as part of the fording system. I'm using a different fuel / vacuum pump so I may need to come up with an alternate connection.
The CJ5 has no such lines, just a simple vent on the transfer case.
