Well, winter storm here, so I got some time to find more pics. I haven't seen many Canadian units with the what I am guessing is gas heater, anyone else who has a better idea, i would greatly appreciate it. I wish I can read the rest of the CAR, again if anyone knows, I would appreciate it. Interesting they chose that unit for a parade.

This is the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion being inspected, Wpg. This is the colours I am going for.

I have found a couple of more pics showing jeeps with their CARS, different locations and styles of CARs.

Does anyone know what the short pipes on each side of the front bumper were used for? I have these on my M38 CDN and up until now I thought they were added by a civie owner after the jeep left the military.
Thanks Pickle for adding this photo. I had the same one but the image I had was blury. Your image is much clearer.

I believe those are flag brackets. Could be mistaken of course but it makes the most sense to me.

These photos I find are so neat, and I really like the discussion that it brings. I have a couple more with their CARs, and some of their background.

There is a number of Canadian owners here, and there is such good information on the site that applies to both sides of the border. I would really like to see everyone help Wes and Ryan put together a good M38 CDn database. I really think this would be a good website for it, and there is interest for it, to learn more about the jeeps they have. If nothing, it could really shed light on getting a number to how many of the 2135 are out there and where they are.

Number 52-31313 is located in Oklahoma City, OK... I bought it from a gent in Ottawa in 2003 and had it shipped here... ended up doing a restoral due to the PO was trying to make it into a CJ3A and not an M-38CDN...

Would love to find out what units it may have belonged to but have been told no can do, records are gone...

Fun. ah well. I love seing the pics of them in service though. Wish I could find one of mine, all the markings were removed with an orbital sander by either the army or the first civvy owner.

xamon,

xamon, you know where to look on the frame for your CAR, right? also, if you CAR is missing (like mine), or on the hood along the side as mentioned above. (I have a pic of one cdn unit on the side if you want to see it). Also, are you missing all data plate tags?

If yours is an early unit, check the front of tool box for "jeep" script, and some of the things wes et al mention in their book about the early models.

Another thing that you may want to look for is that there is some who have indicated that american units were brought up and used by Canadians....there might be a tag on the passenger side, front on the fender.

BTW, I saw the posting on the announcement board. Sorry, I feel somewhat responsible as i did not know that one existed. It is great that list exists here, as it is helpful.

A handful of new US Army M38's were turned over to the Canadain Army before the CDN production started. These would have received CAR #'s but would have had US serials and patent plates and the Jeep script on the tool box.

I just looked again, you have your serial number on the dash....F-102040, and the picture in your gallery shows the CAR stamped on the frame 52-32128....you are good to go.

yes I have the stamped info, but there was a unit marking at one time under the window. All that is left is a little strip of red and white paint at least on the driver side. the passenger side gets to wait till spring.
