I'm going to buy new tires for my M38 and all I see are Coker Firestone tires.
Is there another Manufacture,if so who and where can I buy them?
Looking at my rims I have three that are in lined with valve stem and lugs and one is not. I see the small hole on the one that is not lined up.
I have some that are welded and some that have rivets. what correct?
thanks
for the help
Mark

I put this the the wanted by mistake please remove it from wanted.

I recently purchased a set of new tires (700X16) from Wallace Wade tires in Texas. They are the STA brand of tires ($138.90 a piece). There was an old car swap meet in Wichita last month and he brought them up here for free.

Both welded and riveted wheels were used by Willys and Kaiser. All M38/ M38A1/M170/M100 wheels were with the small 1/8" hole from the factory along with a safety bead design. The wheels were 16 x 4.5 with 5 on 5.5 lug hole centers. Later replacement wheels from Willys/Kaiser varied on the shape of the wheel center and eventually only the CJ wheel was shipped from Willys as a replacement.

the Canadian M-38 came with Kelsey Canada stamped on them with no offset hole, according to Ryan Millers reference guide (pg118)

From Ford Canada possibly. I do not know what evidence he had to support that. Ford of Canada has not provided anyone in the M38CDN restoring effort with any any factory production data, memos and drawings as far as I know. From reliable Canadian sources the word on that data was it was turned over to the Canadian government as classified information.

We have the factory drawings for the Willys/Kaiser data I just posted which addressed only US built jeeps which was the original question.

There are other manufacturers but I believe I saw in earlier posts that Firestone and Good Year were the main providers. Before the Firestones were recently made available again, I bought Denman's from Lucas Tire, mainly because they have a warehouse closer to me and it cut the freight down. But all I have read indicates those original military style tires are not the best for snow, rain, ice on today's paved roads. If you are not doing a show restoration and want a driver, consider those STA's or some other light truck tire.

Do you know where the other 3 wheels came from?
