The only real difference I can see is the M38 one has slotted holes (so you don't need to completely remove the bolts to take it off):

For very little extra work, you could modify the holes on that CJ2A one to be more M38-ish. _________________ Owen

Yep.
I decided when I made mine to just leave them as holes instead of slotting then out. I doubt that I will ever take it off. _________________ Brett

Just in case you guys did not know it, I have new heat shields in stock for the MB/GPW, M38 and the M38A1 in their respective different configurations.
