Just stimulating some conversation here! Cool

For those of you who don't live on the great plains, we see this stuff every year. Some areas more than others.

I know several of these came from Kansas, but not sure where all of these were taken.

It is hard to get the real feel for what these are like from the photos. The thunderhead clouds can get enormous. Jets have to fly around them because they cannot go over them.

Those pictures are really something!! We get our share of storms and tornado's in Ohio but nothing like this! I have a friend from Oklahoma who used to tell me about the thunderstorms back home. He said they would last for hours at a time and never slacken up! I've been in a couple hurricanes but I think those thunderstorms would be worse!

Hi Ryan, what great pictures, brought back a lot of memories as we had similar experiences in Western MO. When I was 16 and early 17, I followed the wheat harvest 2 years from Texas to Canada so in many of these states the happenings occurred. And, sometimes they turned into violent storms. Thanks for the memories. Semper Fi Ben

'Tis the season here in Kansas. I'll I know is I'd better find a way to cover my jeeps with something more then just a tarp before those storms that like to product 1/2" to 3/4" hail get to them first Shocked .

Wes,

When were you at Altus? I was TDY there from August to November of 1976, installing a new ILS system...
