Hi folks, I know this is not a trailer forum, but I am trying to hit as many bases as possible...

I have just purchsed a M-100 trailer and it does not have the lunette, or casting. It currently has a 2" ball hitch on it... I have located a casting and need to know if this is the proper one for the trailer...

I copied this number off the casting - 109 24 577. I think this came off a M-416 trailer and need to know if it will work on the M-100.

Thanks in advance...

Hi Hal. I don't know if you can put a M416 lunette casting on a M100. They might fit, but they're considerably different in appearance. Does this help?

That is definatly a help, the casting I found is for a M-416 and not a M-100... I need the whole lunette, landing leg and casting assembly...

Will look after I get a manual, for proper part numbers...

Thanks,

The M100 manual is still on the Logsa site.
Try this direct link to the manual first:
https://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/data/A/028614.pdf?CFID=1505370&CFTOKEN=ffad434ff1bfbcdc-F1C0C72C-08B5-4D46-CB55C824F623864D

Then you can use this front door link:
https://www.logsa.army.mil/pubs.htm
Just click on ETMs and follow the prompts untill you get to the search page and then type in "TM 9-2330-201-14" in the publication number block. You'll have to agree to military terms of use and you will not request "ETM access" but scroll down to "Enter the site" where you'll get access to only public use documents.

This from the TM 9-871A dated July 1951

This is from the 1972 IPL which is on the Army Logsa site

This is my entire M100 landing leg/lunette casting asembly. This entire assembly will bolt into all three model trailers' frames (MBT/T3, M100, M416).
To intermix parts of the entire asembly will work in some cases and not in others.

Since the M416 assembly is more plentiful and cheaper then a person could just slap an entire M416 asembly on the M100 frame and use that until he can secure a M100 asembly for a reasonabl price.

Thanks for the link to the manual, Wes. I was able to download a copy with no problems, now to print it out...

Now to find an assembly like you have pictured, at this point even a 416 assembly would do... I will have to wait and save my pennies for that though... I figure welding class again in the fall to repair the draw bars and get ready for the castings...

There is an M416 just up the highway about 150 miles from here for sale. Restorable. The lunette ring has been cut off. But since I am still having to buy stuff for this M38 to finish it, I guess I will have to pass it up.
