Barnman, The military produced three heater kits for the M38.

1-Hot water heater kit. Covered in TB 9-2855-37

Just talked with a man in charlotte n.c. this past sat and he mentioned having a heater kit though I don't know which kind. send me a pm and I will give u his e-mail
