Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a period correct radio and mount for a '52 M38? It doesn't have to be working, as it is just for looks. I already have an antenna.

Perhaps you should tell us what antenna and antenna mount you have and we can then suggest a radio that would have used that antenna and mount.

It is a whip style antenna, 10'-12' long. It is mounted on a flat bracket which sits above the left rear brake light and to the left about midpoint of the gas can. If this is not enough information, I'll do some research on the correct nomenclature of the antenna and bracket.

You need the correct nomenclature for the antenna base and each mast segment. A photo of the mount and it's adapter to the jeep tub would help.

I'll get a pic in the morning. Looks like the bracket # is MP-50.

If the bracket is an MP50 mounted to an adapter on the left rear corner of the tub then I don't need a photo. Just the numbers for the antenna base and masts.

The radio sets that would be period correct will be heavy. The choices include mounting 4 heavy units across the rear of the jeep or 2 heavy units on the side of the jeep.

Take a look at my photo album on jeep Radios: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?set_albumName=album61&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

Here's a GRC setup with four across the back:

Here's a VRC set of two in the back:

Here's a VRC set of two on the left wheel house:

Here's the VRC-8, -9, or -10 setup showing all parts:

Here are a few resources for radios and equipment:

Fair Radio Sales www.fairradio.com
Columbia Electronics www.columbiaelectronics.com
Army Radio Sales http://www.armyradio.com/arsc/customer/home.php

Information on radios, antennas and equipment:

http://www.greenradios.com/Radios/American/Old_Family/Sets.htm

There is usually a large amount of radio equipment offered on Ebay but you have to do some searching to find it all. If there is a Ham radio club in your area you may be able to tap some of the members for information on where to find radios.

My M38 has a VRC-7 and a PRC-10/VRC. The M38A1 has a VRC-10. They all work although I don't have a license to operate them.

Also over at G503.com there is a forum dedicated to radio equipment - another source of information and equipment.
