Approximately how much paint will I have to purchase to paint a M-38 (inside and out)?

That's a tough question to answer. A lot depends on your application
rate and number of coats. I can tell you I used between 3 and 4 gallons
of color to do everything as frame off. Sheet metal, wheels, frame, all drive train components.
You'll encounter a little waste when mixing and spraying
pots. It seemed I always needed a little more or a little less than I mixed.
I'm not a pro painter.

Be sure to lay in a supply of matching rattle cans-you'll always be reaching
for them for small lot jobs.

One thing to do is get all the paint at the same time from the same batch of paint. If you only get 3 gallons and run out, the fourth gallon may be from a different production run and may be slightly different in it's pigment concentration causing a mismatch in the final finish.

Sherwin Williams automotive paints has a military paint division. You can get just about any color from them. If you can get a Federal Paint Code they can match it for you.
