Are these available from local auto parts stores? I know
John has them but just figured out yesterday I probably don't
want to reuse the old ones.

Copper/composite crush washers and the flat copper washers are both standard hardware items at automotive part stores. They can also be ordered online from the large industrial supply catalogs. They have a mil standard part number and Army Navy number as well. AN900- and MS35769-



They are also used in the aircraft industry still.
