I did a search on G503 and found some discussion of shifter forks but it did not answer my question?
In my copy of the Rebuilder’s Manual by Ludel, in the chapter about rebuilding the T-90, he talks about shift fork clearance on the clutch sleeve and the 1st/reverse sliding gear. There is no clearance given and then he goes on talk about the detent plunger/interlock end play should be .0001”-0.007”
On my shifter control housing everything appears very tight the only place where there is any play is where the forks are mounted on the two shifter shafts. There the forks have a little play as they rotate around their mounting pins. This looks normal to me.
How much clearance should be between the forks and the clutch sleeve and on the 1st/reverse sliding gear?
How do you know if the forks are worn out enough to replace? How do you know when to replace the clutch sleeve and the 1st/reverse sliding gear?
All the gears and bearings look to be in very good shape. The transfer case was it very good shape too. There was just a little wear on the intermediate shaft

Okay I took the time today to talk to our friends at Novak. The Tech guy really knew his stuff. I told him that I could just slide a .010 shim between the fork on the clutch sleeve and also between the fork on the 1st/reverse sliding gear. He said that was plenty good and was better than what a lot of other people have. So at least I know that my clearance is okay.
