First time Jeep owner of any kind and new to this forum, too. Have always wanted a Military Jeep and recently purchased an M38A1. Years back someone tried to turn it into a CJ-3 or 5, gave up and the next owner started to put it back to M38A1 condition. Gave up and it set in a barn for a while. Gentleman I got it from did lots more work (including a new tub) but then his interest turned to other areas. When I got it it came titled and with the original Willys Overland ID plate stamped "MD 182XX" on it. the title says it is a 1954. I was wondering if this year correct for the MD number?
The first of my many questions.
Thanks,
jetjock

JJ,
Check the downloads section. There is a database of M38
serial numbers. Might be one for the A1's as well.

Welcome to the party!
Pics ?

Wes K,
Thanks for the info. My research was indicating it was more of a 1952 mfgr than a '54.
