Well, I ended up replacing the brake rubber hoses, and all is well so far.
I can blow air through the old ones, but I was told that under preasure, wierd things can happen to these hoses when they get old.
Thanks for all the replies guys.

The play is in the steering box itself, I have a new one to replace it, but didn't get to it yet. The belcranck was real bad when I got the Jeep, so I replaced it when we reinforced/welded the cross member. I just moved the Jeep to an area where I could jack it up, and the left front wheel is ...

Thanks for the come back Wes.
Tire preasure is equal, (28psi).
Both wheels stop just fine when up in the air, no grease or oil on the shoes.
Steering does have left/right play, exccesive, but it is the same as it was a month ago. I did tighten the wheel bearing on the left front wheel on Friday, it ...

M38A1 brakes acting strange

When I took the Jeep for a drive Monday morning, I noticed that whenever I apply the brakes, it pulls to the left, and keeps on pulling for a second or two after I release it. When I came back home (our driveway is gravel, the loose/washed type) and applied the brakes, the front driver side wheel ...

The 53 M38A1 is coming along slowly. It is a lot of fun to drive now, brakes are working like they should, engine works like it should, and small mines will not bother it too much (thick floors :-). Wes, as soon as I can read the numbers from the engine I will send them your way

I am running two 12V off road lights on my 24V Ferret, they are hooked up in series (12V X 2 = 24V).

PCV on 53 M38A1

I was looking at the way the hoses are on the engine yesterday, and noticed something. The oil filling tube has two fittings across from each other, one is connected to the fitting on top of the valve cover, the other one is plugged up ( http://www.deltaforce.net/~amnon/m38a1/DSCF0008.JPG ). What ...

Probably a Carter YF938 (4 variations - 938S, 938SA, 938SC, and 938SD).
Thanks Wes, great information. The link to the carburator shop in one of the articles is no longer valid. I ordered a kit from JCWhitney, and we'll see.
On another note, I replaced the front motor mounts last Saturday, which ...

1953 M38A1 Bumperettes

Do the bumperettes from a CJ5/6/7, Laredo, Wrangler and the like fit the M38A1 correctly? There are quite a few of these on Ebay, and the price is right.

Re: No air filter

So does anybody know of something that I can fit on there that will work for the time being? I've looked at other pics and my carb also looks to be missing the elbow fitting on the carb. If that was there I think I would just find a cone type filter to fit it?
Kevin
Hi Kevin. Look at some pictures ...
