Expansion (welch) plug installed. All seems OK now.

I can report 11/32" plugs were a skosh too small. The 23/64" plugs just snugly fit in the hole and when dimpled with a punch fit nice and tight.

FYI...Plugs were purchased from Quadrajetparts.com, set of 5 plugs $4

Thanks for y'alls advise.

Oh no...it's open! I can clearly see (and touch with a probe) the float in the bowl chamber. In fact it was the copious gas spilling from this hole that initially got my attention.

Curious, as Wes previously mentioned, there is no information about this plug in any reference material, but it is ...

Thanks Ron,
I had measured the opening as 9mm=.35433

No parts store in my small town has anything close to this size in stock.

I've ordered two plug sizes:
  • 11/32" = .34375
    23/64" = .35937
Hopefully one of these will suffice.

M38-YS637S Carb question

The M38 YS637S carb has a small plug (freeze plug?) on the fuel bowl. On my Carb this plug has popped out (I don't have the plug). What is the size of this plug? Is it a "standard" size which can be purchased at a parts store (ie. NAPA)? Is this something easily fixed myself or does it need to be ...

Hello, I'd be interested in the hood. Can you PM a pic or two of the hood? What price would you want for it?

Fan & Generator Dive pulley nut?

The nut that holds on the Fan & Generator Drive Pulley has spun off my Jeep, so obviously I need a replacement. I have searched multiple manuals/publications but can find no reference to this nuts size. Can somebody help? A pick of the nut in question is in the attacked figure.

WTB: M38 Windsheild frame

I asked a few months ago, but did not get much of a response. So I guess I'll ask again. I'm in need of a replacement windshield frame for my 1951 M38. A while back I was towing the jeep and the strap holding the windshield down broke and the windshield flew up at 75mph, and subsequently bent it ...

Rick...I love this idea. I have the same charger but have it wired to the two batteries. I don't know why I didn't think of this, the outlet is staring me in the face. One question though, what size are the connectors you attached to your charger cable and where did you get them?

WTB: M38 Windshield frame and hood

OK, if you saw my recent post in the Technical Knowledge forum, you know I recently broke the windshield frame on my M38. So, I'm starting the process of locating a replacement. I just need the frame, I have all the accessories that go on it. I'm really only interested in an original windshield ...

windshield repair advise

Hello all...I need some repair advise/opinions. A few months ago I was towing my jeep (on its trailer) to my ranch. Along the way the windshield hold down strap failed (came unbuckled) and the windshield subsequently flew up at 75mph! 8O Consequently the glass windshield shattered and came out of ...

Wes,
Wes...I did such a search and had already found and further researched your suggested items. However the eBay item is heavily stained and not a first choice, the g503 post is out of date (from 2008) and no longer available and lastly the bwgsurplus.com site is out of stock, regardless of what ...

WTB CW 330 RT-68 cover

I'm looking for the CW 330 canvas cover for my RT-68 radio. A quick search of the inter-web has only found a few CW 329 covers, and I would prefer the more form fitting CW 330. Any body know where I can find one?
Thanks,

I'm in the market for a front bumper for my '51 M38. I currently have a reproduction bumper but I'm wanting to replace it with preferably a NOS or alternatively a good used take off bumper.

I choose to use the Safe-line clamp system on my model 50 winch set-up. I like the look. However, I must say I have never put any significant tension on this cable, so I can't really speak to its holding capacity.
