And then there is the M38CDN unit that numbered only 2135 units. Again they seem to bring a lower value than the G503.

It is what it is!

I have a copy of the winch frame assembly built from an original, I also have AutoCAD drawings of the winch frame assembly.

I can ask the owner (a close friend) of the original Ramsey 50R winch Assembly if he would be willing to ship the winch assembly so you would have a complete set up including ...

The Ramsey 50 and the replacement 50R were the winches installed on the M38.
There are pictures in my picture folder or I have pictures and access to a 50R winch set up if required.

#5 looks like the right hand bracked that bolts to the inside of the windshield frame for the rifle scabbard.

Sorry, but that image appears to be the same side only rotated 180 deg.
The back side of the license plate holder is what I was looking for.
Here is the area that I was questioning.

That looks like a square cut-out on the rear piece; the original has a stamped depression.
Is the metal removed here or am I seeing this wrong, do you have a picture of the other side?

The body I have had both a "K" and a "N" number on it.
Possibly the hood or the door was changed in it's life?

So with this information we can safely say that there were some M38's with a factory blue finish. That would explain why I had blue under the heater access cover while the heater cover itself was originally OD. Also the windshield pivot brackets were painted OD then over sprayed Strata Blue while ...

Wes, if you look closely you can just see the edge of the "D" for the other frame tie down. There is evidence of a shadow at the edge of the picture and the pintel is casting a shadow to the right, with this I make the assumption that this shadow is from the bracket holding the d-ring.
I wish I had ...

7: Vehicles shipped by rail transport had eight tie downs installed on the frame. Vehicles shipped overseas to Norway or Cyprus had eight tie downs on the frame and also has hold down rings installed to the four spring shackle plates.
I believe this information is from a previous post on another ...

I expect they will rattle like heck, or at least make some noise. I think I will cut a small section of rubber and wedge it in between the "D" ring and the bracket to reduce the rattle.
These will be another part that makes the M38CDN a bit more Canadian.

From what I can tell by the marks left on the rail tie downs after 60+ years of being on a jeep.
There are wear marks from the springs being in contact with the tie down plates that would indicate that they were placed between the original spring plates and these plates.
