Congrats to your wife and welcome to Delmarva...........

Salisbury is a nice town and is probably 45 minutes from us here in southern Delaware. Lots of jeep related events during the year here. A major one is Jeep Week and is held in Ocean City & Berlin, MD every summer. We've been going to that ...

Seems like lots of sellers don't have a clue about the correct footman loop for the M38 & A1. After receiving WWII era footman loops from not one, but two big East Coast vendors, I received the correct loops from George Baxter at AJP in Levittown, PA. They are NOS, packed in March 1952....

I've used these guys to recondition my M38 fuel tank a few years ago. They did a nice job..... the tank is now kept full of fuel and no problems so far.

Here's the tank renew process - http://gastankrenu.com/index.htm

My thoughts, exactly, Wes!!! Wonder if this was a prisoner work project and a limited budget.... free labor but the parts are gonna cost an arm and a leg! Wonder if they were just scrounging parts or if they were able to do internet searches for parts and more accuracy? I don't see data plates on ...

Dave,
When you get a chance, can you post the information on the DC property ID tag line for line...... I saw the photos you posted but the bottom of the tag is still blurred.
Thanks,

Thanks for the ride!!!! That video is so good that it's like I'm along for the ride sitting right there beside you. :D And the jeep sounds great and looks like it's in exceptional condition. The problems you mentioned are normal fare for these old goats and can be taken off your to-do-list one at a ...

My vehicle is a 51 M38 and I just found "PRICE 2039.94" in a 1" high x 11 1/2" long stencil (white paint) on the vent panel in the center of the windshield. Letter thickness was 1/8".

The jeep also has bumper markings from Aberdeen Proving Ground. Is this "price" number close to the actual cost of ...

Dana,

My M38 delivery date is 8/51 and it had the original army markings on it when I purchased it way back in 1976. The top of the star points to the grill.

I installed a set of Warn manual locking hubs on a '61 Willys CJ5 in 1970 and they were easy to install and worked great. I plan on installing a set of manual hubs on my M38 when I get to that point in the restoration.
