Hi fellows,

I am facing the following problem:

M38 A1 Carburettor screws

I tried to adjust my carburettor correctly today.
I gently drove in the mixture screw into the seat and then backed it off 1.5 turns. Loosening the idle rpm screw was not possible because the engine would die off.
From wer I played with the Mixture Screw both directions with no reaction by the ...

Overhauled engine - oil press high

I installed a completely overhauled F-head engine in my M38A1.
After 15minutes, the oil pressure still reads high, see photos.
Gauge and sender are not very old by the way.

What could be the reason?
- is this normal with new engines?
- what could be wrong?

M38A1 - vacuum wipers - why are they so slow

Hi fellows,

why are the wipers on my screen so slow / weak in motion?

- I do not have broken vent lines
- the fittings are tightly bolted
- my vacuum pump seems to be fine

What could be the reason?

Is a common "workaround" to reduce the diameters of the other ventlines (to distributor etc) to ...

M38A1 - FUEL PUMP DIAPHRAGM

Hi there,

M38A1 - correct torque install fan/generator drive pulley

Hi fellows,

I went through the TM 9-8015-1 "Enginge & Clutch".
Installation of the pulley is mentioned on page 124 - but does not mention the torque for the nut.

Please help...

2nd question: is there a chart available which mentions the torques used on the M38A1 in a list?

Thank you Wes,
I "tested" by holding a lighter to the dipstick before and after an engine run - no inflammable reaction...

Is that a "valid" test?

vacuum/gasoline pump - does it leak fuel? How to check?

Hello Jeep fellows,

the engine of my M38A1 consumed 4 litres of oil on 400 miles - I will build in an overhauled engine next week.

The guy that sold me overhauled engine recommended to make sure that the pump does not bring fuel in to the oil system of the engine - which would ruin the new engine ...

I just installed the late (swiss) solid state ignition on my M38A1:

- works not only on M38 ...
