Well my dyslexia must have kicked in when I was putting the plug wires on. I actually put 1,2,3,4 on the wires and swear they were correct but NOT! Put the wires on according to the MANUAL and it fired right up. So for whatever reason I marked them wrong, it’s running right now . Little chilly to ...

While back I bent a valve by using too long of an adapter on my compression gauge. Got the new valve in lapped it adjusted the valves once twice and verified a third time by the book. New copper head gasket. Took pictures of everything so I could get it back together correctly. Tried starting it and ...

Wes, I don’t profess to be a good reader but from looking and reading the g740, it looks like the only thing interchangeable is the the valve spring itself. Man that’s a thick book. John jr.

Thanks for the pic Wes. I only have one rotator Valve for number one exhaust cylinder. The rest are using The beveled keepers. If I want to change the keepers to the beveled ones can I still use the same valve and spring and retainer. Thanks John jr.

Valve spring retainer keeper?

So I’m in the process of installing my new intake valve. (Already done). In adjusting them, I noticed that the exhaust valve doesn’t have the beveled keeper on it. It appears to be newer than the others. the keeper just resembles a lock washer in two pieces but not beveled. Can’t get a picture of it ...

Wes the gauge is just a regular gauge. The longer adapter was definitely hitting the top of the piston as there is a mark not a dent from it. Also the bottom of the adapter shows that it was hitting. Can’t post pics so let me know if there’s some other way to get them to you. Thanks John jr

What have I done, what have I done,

Been wanting to check the compression on the m38. So I took all the plugs out and such as the tm said. Installed the compression gauge and only got like sixty pounds. Took the gauge out to see if it could have been plugged since it hasn’t been used in thirty years. It was ok. Put it back in and got ...

Just to verify. The double lipped rear pinion seal goes in with the spring towards the differential? Thanks John jr.
