Leaf spring clamp spacers

Hopefully I can describe what I am looking for clearly:

I am cleaning up my old leaf springs currently and installing new center pins and new bolts for the clamps as well. The clamps take a 5/16" bolt, but they also have a steel tube that seems to act as a spacer to prevent the clamps from ...

No wonder the front seal was leaking...

I finally got sick of adding more gear oil to my dads A1, and he got sick of it leaking on his shop floor, so I decided to change the front seal in the transfer case. This is what I found when I pulled the yoke out.

Looking great! You are making some serious progress it looks like. Interesting place to mount the voltage regulator, is that an M170 thing or did you decide to put it there?

Re: Source for fuel pump & carb rebuild kits?

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good suppliers for rebuild kits for the military fuel pump & carb for my M38A1? I have a few weeks off from grad school & hope to get a few things done. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Galen

I know MidwestMil is supposed to have one of the best carb ...

Re: Ring & Pinion

Jim,

Looks like the ring and pinion I have is for the Dana 25. WO-801928 G740-7032627. 5.38 ratio 43x8 teeth. As stated on the other post, I am selling it for $100 plus shipping. These parts are still in the original box. I opened the box but the parts are wrapped up so I did not disturb them ...

Do you ever travel down this way? I am in Wisconsin.

Unfortunately very rarely. I don't often go into the states. Especially now that I am in school full time, I would not be able to make the trip down there any time in the near future. Closest thing would be relatives in Washington. If I plan a ...

Watching the sales boards the past 6 months the entire axle assemblies (brake drum to brake drum are going for $100 to $150 as removed.

Hi Wes,

That is indeed a good price on complete assemblies. The problem would lie in getting them up to me in Alberta. Any of the ones I have seen come up for ...

IF.....nothing's worn beyond servicability.....not warped or cracked or bent.....then heck yes.....good deal! For my $.02 worth I'd pull the cones and chunk them.....chances of the shims being correct is pretty slim anyway. Good luck.

Thanks for the input Jim. I was thinking along the same lines ...

Front axle factory carrier

I just found somewhere I can buy a used (but what looks to be in very good condition) front axle carrier for $89. Any opinions on whether or not this is a decent price? A few pics:

All production M38's came with the D44 in the rear and the D25 in the front and all were 5:38 to 1 gears. There's a tag on the pumpkin cover between two bolts that list's the ring and pinion gear tooth counts.

43 and 8

Note that when you divide 43 by 8 you get 537.5 hence the 5:38 to 1 labeled ...

Re: Axle Parts

Jim,

Given a couple of weeks, I may be able to come up with the parts that you need. I have an NOS ring and pinion sitting in my garage. I am not sure if it is for a Dana 44 or a Dana 25. I'll take a look this evening. I would take $100 for the ring and pinion. Kind of expensive but a fair price ...

Dana 25 Front Axle Parts

This is a long shot, but I thought I'd give it a try anyways. In the process of tearing everything down on my Jeep I discovered that everything has been robbed out of the front axle. At the moment I cannot afford to buy all new parts for the the front, so I am looking for some decent shape used ...
