Dave
My father in law was in Korea in the 187th Regimental Combat Team and I have a picture of him standing in front of 2 jeeps with unit markings which he said was taken in Korea. The front bumper is clearly shown and is marked:
187 RCT HQ5
This doesn't seem to completely conform to the ...

Thanks for the info Wes

This would be more of a motor pool resto at best.
I have the non vented cap (WO 805012). Since you indicate this wording was actually used I'll probably just recreate what was there.

Fuel tank caution warning

My 52 M38 didn't have the typical "caution do not overfill allow for expansion" warning below the filler cap.
Instead it had "pressurized open slowly" on 2 lines to the upper right of the filler cap and " max accept rate 17GPM" on 2 lines just below the filler cap. Upon sanding this was evident on ...

Seat springs and cushions

I have a full set (front and rear) of what I think are the original seat springs for an M38. The springs are topped with a layer of jute and then a layer of foam. Springs are rusty but not broken. They were recovered in vinyl by some PO. I have replaced them with new foam seats and thought someone ...

There is no date on the kit that I can find.
I got it 2 years ago from one of the reputable suppliers and rubber is very supple. Parts were all sealed

M38 fording cable length

Can anyone tell me the correct length of the fording cables for a M38. I ordered one and believe it might be for M38A1 as one cable (PCV valve) is about a foot too long. I don't mind cutting it down but need to know how far. The cable I have is about 34" and 38" from dash flange to end of wire ...

Wiring harness routing for dimmer switch

I have a late M38 (May /52) am trying to determine correct routing of the 4 wires going to the headlight dimmer switch. Portions of the original harness was cut up and modified by PO and I am rebuilding it. Cant find any clear pictures in albums or manuals of routing to the dimmer. Do the wires go ...
