You are indeed a wealth of knowledge, thanks for all your assistance, with this info, I've learned there is a right and left thread in the tie rod ends, without making myself crazy on the dismantle!

I believe the name you are looking for is "Swedge". I work with swingstage cables and hooks are swedged on to the looped cable. You can also swedge a cable end at a termination.

Ditto on the door thing!

I could have written the last post, it is so true to form. I too had ugly civilian type doors on my M38A1. Thought, I'll never use these and turfed them....stupid me. Save EVERYTHING and as Wes says A. Put in order of removal and B don't kick it out of order!! Good Luck

The best way my M38A1 starts is invariably...Choke all lthe way out..gas pedal fully depressed( not difficult with floor starter) turn over 3-4 revolutions(get gas up to carb)..as soon as starts , off choke and gently rev engine to smooth run.

Motor just stopped

You may have confirmed an electrical problem by now, but have a look at the FUEL situation.I spent a long while trying to figure out my M38A1s same problem. Seemed like the ignition was just shut off...no splutter or? Turned out to be a stuck float and it choked on the excess gas. Worth a look.

Had the same thing with my M38A1. Seemed like someone just shut off the ignition, no splutter or anything. Went the route suspecting an ignition problem...nope, seems needle valve at float stuck and flooded out engine. Worth a look.

Had a similar problem when I first put my M38A1 on the road. Did all the normal checks and bled etc. It kept adding presure to the drums on each application. A mech friend suggested I check the small return hole in the bottom of the master cyl. Yup clogged tight as $&% with old dirt and gunk. Reamed out, replaced fluid and to date(after 10years) no more problems! Now where is that wood to knock on??!!

Sounds like the float needle. It rides on the tab of the float to regulate the gas flow to the bowl
