B25 (Hijack)
Yes, flying the B-25 was a hoot. We used to try to recreate the Doolittle Raid - short takeoff and low-level bombing raid. Got to meet a number of the Doolittle Raiders (the last died just recently) and hear Jimmy Doolittle speak. My B-25 flying was the late 70's and early 80's so we also got to ...

Oops! RonD2 - you asked about my flying. I've been a pilot for 44 years - Commercial and flight instructor certificates. My only semi-military experience was flying Search and Rescue for the USAF Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol) for over 30 years. I did have the experience many years ago of flying ...

Trailer Question
Yeah, I didn't give you much info did I? The trailer measures 16 feet to the point of the Vee - 14 feet rectangular space. It has tandem axles, each rated at 3500 Lbs - the empty weight of the trailer is 2172 Lbs with a useful load of 4828 lbs. It has electric brakes. I bought the trailer used and ...

Trailer Question
I recently bought a used US Cargo 7 x 14 foot enclosed trailer. It's primarily for hauling my more fragile 1917 Model T Ford but I'd like to haul my M38a1 in it as well. The ramp is 67 inches long and rated for a transitional weight of 2500 lbs and can support a dead weight of around 1300-1500 lbs ...

No pictures but it seems to me I've seen them strapped to the side mirror on the driver's side and hooked to whatever else was available (that was on MB's.) I believe the design was originally for the horse cavalry as we were given a complete rig by an old cavalryman that consisted of Mclellan ...

Too much play?
Continuing my discussion of installing Warn hubs on the front wheels of my M38a1 - When preparing to install the Warn hub, I noticed some in / out play in the splined shaft, less than 1/8 inch. When I put the circlip on it, the play pretty much disappeared. Is this normal or do I have a problem here ...

I painted the Warns OD, an act of faith that I would get them installed.... The installation itself was fairly straightforward.... the only thing that you might miss if you don't study the diagrams is the need to align the cap pin with the cutout in the gasket with a cutout in the big casting.

When I visited Brent Mullins in Texas a few years back he had a few M38A1C's and Recoilless rifles. Maybe he can help you out.

Thanks guys! I ordered the ten spline, 6 mounting hole WARN 29062 which is supposed to fit any Willys from early CJ's thru M38A1. I have a install sheet similar to the one you printed Wes, but I thought it was lacking in detail. It basically says "pull this off, put this on" which after reading ...

Locking hub install M38A1 - Huh?
Ok...I need some of the collective wisdom and experience of the group. It seems every year I get asked to be in more parades. It's flattering but I fear somewhat hard on the Jeep. I tried running in 1st but I'm constantly clutching which can't be good. I've taken to whenever I'm on a straight ...

Geez! No more T3
What an informative thread. I've used T3 for years so it's cancellation is not good news.
I took the liberty of emailing Shell Technical support and asked the question whether T4 lacked the amount of ZDDP that T3 featured. The answer I got was that Rotella still had plenty of Zinc and was the best ...

Oils
You can easily overthink the oil issue. I've been using Shell Rotella T 15w40 for years in both my 1953 Ford Tractor and 1952 M38A1. It has the all important Zinc-phosphate additives that your engine needs. I found this online: "Shell Rotella T is a conventional (mineral-based) oil that was ...

We've all been there...looking for the elusive item. I had the instrument panel but it had some rust on it and the fire department had painted it red. I sandblasted, primed and painted it OD but needed those two little labels to finish it. John is so good at stocking these hard to find items that he ...

With John having such a great deal on them I guess you don't need me to see if I can find the artwork for them. I would be glad to look but it might be a week or so as I am recovering from surgery and not moving around too much yet.

decals
I had the same problem. I took photos and measurements off a Jeep that had the decals and took them to a shop that does vinyl lettering. They made up what I needed along with a few other things. I had extras made but have since given them all away or I'd just give them to you. You can't tell them ...
