If I remember correctly, only place Brass locknuts are used is on the Manifold to block (7 ea). The rest of the nuts on the exhaust system are plain Brass nuts with lock washers... But only on the places where the pipes bolt together...

Found massive leak at the manifold to head connection. Took both manifolds to a machine shop with new bolts and gasket ...

FYI the brake switch is a make or break type switch. If eithor side connects to ground it is bad. Power comes in one side of switch and out the other to the lights. Only time is makes contact is when the brake pedal is pushed properly...

Same idea as the horn switch...

Check your inverted flare connections, the M-38A1 uses 5/16" fuel lines and you may have a fuel line that is leaking. I rebuilt my M-38A1 and redid all of the fuel lines myself using very good flaring tools and being quite patient in their manufacture. I had two that would not seal properly and this ...

It is the proper cluster for an M-38. The ammeter has been changed to a voltmeter which needs to happen if running a solid state regulator and the oil pressure gauge has been changed to a 60 PSI unit to probably match the sender. This is what I run in my M-38CDN.

I have replaced both batteries in M-38 and M-38A1 with 51R batteries from Sam's Club. They are very close to the proper size and other requirements. The posts line up properly for the electric cables to be used as installed. Cost for my last set was $105 per battery.

I have gotten 3 years out of ...
